I start a new job on Wednesday.
It's hard. I'm not really looking forward to it - there's just been too many goodbyes. I hate that - I'm clingy.
One should look forward to new jobs. But all I can think is "the money is good with this one."
I wish I was one of those people who felt passionate about work.

I'm not sure I've ever met someone who has true passion for their work. I think it's actually a myth, and that the majority of us work to live and not the other way around!
Good luck with the new job Jezzy, and I'm very glad to hear that hubby is feeling a lot better.
No, no, it's not a myth....that'd be me. I totally have a true passion for my work and LOVE it. I wake up each morning and say, I GET to go to work, not I HAVE to go to work. But the passion comes with a teeny tiny paycheck...and when you've got two kids, that sucks!
Change is always scary. Adjustment is scary. But then? Then you make new friends that would make it hard to say good bye. It'll be great, Jezzy. You just need to give it a month or two until you learn the new routine and meet cool people at the new place.
Wow, you've got a lot going on in your life! Good luck in your new job. Thanks for your comment, I'm very happy to know my teenage daughter isn't unique in her brattiness. Let us know how your husband is doing.
I wish you all the best on your new job, Jez. You'll do well, no doubt. And, yeah, goodbyes are always hard, sometimes very hard. Be strong, and best wishes.
I also adore my job, but to quote one of my favourite films...
...I work with every backwards-ass fuck on the planet...
Dante Hicks (Brian O'Halloran)
Clerks
I love my job. I hardly consider it a job, actually...but then again, I work for myself!
Now if only the boss weren't such a prick...
;-)
Scott Adams (Dilbert author) once said that it's a universal rule. Every job is better than yours.
Hope this one's a good one.
Kira and NWJR, I'm truly green with envy. I'd love to figure out what it is that I could be paid for and be passionate about!
She said, "Life ain't easy getting through
And everybody's gonna make things tough on you
But I'll tell you right now, if you dig what you do
They will never get you down."
--Todd Snider ("Ballad of the Devil's Backbone Tavern")
Greetings!! I, too, love, love, LOVE my job! It is truly the best, being able to have a rough day and still look forward to the next day!
Good luck....money does help a bit!
Hope your first day nerves weren't too bad and you soon settle in.
It would be nice to be passionate about work, wouldn't it. I'm one who will never know.
I'm very happy that hubby isn't so sick anymore. That makes a huge difference.
ginchy and kira - I can see both sides to it - there's passion in some things I do, and other things are just "work to live". Kira - loved your post on being rich.
juanita - I'm glad I came across your blog. And it must be really difficult for you with the teen. I'm starting to feel guilty about all the moodiness I put my parents through back in the day.
tomc - there should be no more goodbyes. They suck.
deemacgee - you have great taste, as always - love that movie.
nwjr - lol - yes, Scott Adams is a wise man. And maybe I should work for me too. Except that I'd prolly drive me nuts.
GIMC - excellent, apt quote. Thank you.
celticlady - aww, that's very cool! Great attitude.
robmacca - hullo again, yeah - it was pretty cool.
Laura - yeah - I'm really happy about that too.
