First of all - I love the new job!
Although I haven't done any real work yet - I'll be in training for a week.
The work environment is relaxed and lovely, I have a huge-ass desk, the people are really nice, the job seems really interesting - although quite busy - I couldn't be happier with all of that.
Secondly, hubby is doing well on the radiotherapy, but he's been suffering from insomnia. Which, therefore, make me also suffer from insomnia. Normally his head hits the pillow and he's fast asleep, but at the moment, he wont fall asleep until 2am and the sleep he has is really restless - which keeps me awake too. Gaah!
Thirdly - I'm in a panic with getting the PhD submitted in time to avoid paying fees for next semester. Agggh!!! I've been working on it in the evenings and I'm here working on it on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Waaah!!
Fourthly, I have been tagged for many things that I'm yet to tackle. But I do like these - so here I go:
From Fudge -
10 Years ago:
I was in my final year of highschool. I was doing well at school and was planning the rest of my life as well. In fact, it's scary to read my 1996 Diary as I have done most of what I said I would do. I wrote which degrees I'd complete, I wrote how old I'd be when I decided to get engaged and get married - and I've done it all! That's just creepy, Jez!
5 Years ago:
I had just finished my first degree and was working full time - just down the road from home. It took three minutes to get to work and I went home for an hour for lunch. My boyfriend (now hubby) came from England to spend the year here on a working holiday visa. It was a really cool year. Felt like I was on holiday too.
Middle School:
Well we don't have "middle school", but if I'm to look back to my early highschool years, I was very, very shy and quiet and read a lot of books.
5 Bands and Artists:
Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Missy Higgins, Sarah Blasko, Ben Lee.
5 things I'd do with 100 million
That's a hell of a lot of money.
I'd give loads to my family and friends.
I'd lead a research team investigating the causes of testicular cancer and trying to find out why the incidence is rising.
I'd be a benefactor to something worthwhile to do with education.
I'd buy a new house/car/yacht/holiday place/clothes - you name it.
I'd travel around the world.
5 Places I would run away to:
Italy, India, New Zealand, Antarctica (just to check it out!), Canada.
5 Things I like doing:
Reading, blogging, chatting and hanging out with friends, cuddling hubby, cooking.
5 Things I will never wear (if I can help it):
Short shorts, string bikinis, tight white pants, stilletos, clothes exposising load of midriff. Not in this lifetime! Maybe in the next, when I'll have the body of a supermodel!
5 Movies I Like
High Fidelity
The Princess Bride
Being John Malkovich
Lost in Translation
LOTR
5 People I'd Like to Meet:
Many of you guys, actually. You're really cool.
5 Joys at the Moment:
My beautiful husband, my dear friends, my cool new job, my sweet cousin who's turning 21 on Monday, the fact that I lost a few kilos for summer - yayness!
Meme from Jill:
List 5 weird personal habits/traits and then tag 5 people when you're done.
1. I am terrible at motivating myself. I can't just sit down and do something. I have to do a million other things first - and then a few hours later, I'll consider starting what I actually need to do.
2. I tend to keep to myself. I hold my cards very close and very rarely reveal what I really think.
3. I keep my books and CDs in alphabetical order.
4. I love washing my hair. It's orgasmic. Especially if someone else is doing the washing and massaging. Hmmmm.
5. I love cooking but hate the thought of hosting a dinner party.
Okay - since these are old (I think was tagged for them last month!), I wont tag anyone, but feel free to do them if you want.

Well done! I'm really happy you like the job!
I've just moved to London so I know how you feel about leaving one place after so long!
Great news about Mr Jezzy too.
I'd never wear white pants either, actually....good choice.
- glad you like the new job, jez. that makes everything easier.
- i'm with you, i keep my books and cd's in alpha order, too
- and, btw, you're one of the five blog writers i'd like to meet. see how that works?
cheers
So glad to hear the job is going well! I'm sorry that the hubby is having insomnia, but I guess that's much better than the positively awful scene you described with the vomiting/nausea earlier when he was on different meds. Poor guy!
Good luck with finishing up the PhD work so that you're done, done, done with it. It's more than just not having to pay another semester's worth of fees; it's all about not having it hang over your head while you try to balance your very intense life these days, what with the hubby's illness and your new job. You need a break, and torturing yourself NOW to finish it up would likely be the best thing you can do. I know it'll work out fine, so just look at your husband's insomnia as a blessing! It encourages you to stay up late and work on the dissertation!
