I'm so very angry.
I've just been told by our solicitor that the bank that we're
transferring funds from (to the new back) has set a settlement date of
the 14th of September.
However, we're purchasing the house on the 8th!!
Gaah!!
Not happy with the new bank, Westpac, who agreed to that date for some
unknown reason, without telling us of course, and who waited an entire
week to initiate discharging the loan with the old bank when we had
been already so delayed by them that we only had two weeks until
settlement at the time the loans were approved by them!!!!!
Absolutely incompetent!
And all they can say as an excuse is that these things aren't handled
at branch level but at national level and that a different person
would have handled the case and they'll leave a message for them.
So I've been ringing around and leaving messages everywhere, and of
course, I can't speak to anyone who actually handles the loans, all I
can do it tell whatever random customer service representative I speak
to - a different one each time - that this is urgent and all they can
tell me is that they've put an "urgent" tag on the case and to call
back in 24 hours to see whether the new date has been accepted or
declined.
What utter shit.
I am so against the centralisation of these services. There's no
accountability for anyone's actions and no one seems to actually help.
It's not fair that we could be in some serious shit because of one
person's delay in doing a task.
Fuck it! I'm furious! I can't handle anymore of this!

I don't plan to ever buy or sell a house again. I've done each twice, and they never work according to plan.
