Just so you know...
When a girl rants/complains/whines to you about something, she doesn't
want you do fix it, she doesn't want your advice, she doesn't want
pity, she doesn't want you to be told that she's lucky it's not as bad
as what happened to so-and-so.
If you say such shit, it makes her think: "Fuck you, you patronising prick."
She just wants to be heard.

Alex gets that one. Thankfully. And I get it usually when he just wants to vent as well. But you're right...it's TOTALLY frustrating when all you want to do is release some steam and he's sitting there giving advice and telling you what to do.
