I hope you all enjoyed the time you spent with your families.
We all went to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve (which actually started at 11.30pm because of the carolling) and afterwards, Hubby asked the priest for a blessing. The priest was the same guy who married us and he was pretty shocked to hear about Hubby being unwell. I guess most people have baby news - not cancer news - this length of time after getting married. But it was nice for Hubby to have that done. He's so ready to get the treatment over and done with - we can't wait until it's all over and he gets the all clear. The thought that he still has cancer cells inside him makes me feel sick every time I think about it.
He's been getting loads of extra cuddles.
Christmas lunch was at my Aunt's house. Lots of eating was done, followed by pressie opening (yeah, I cleaned up pretty well - got some goodies), followed by slothing (see picture for post-lunch sloth behaviour).
In the evening, we went out for a walk to look at Christmas lights again.
On Boxing Day, we went to Vaucluse to have a picnic and watch the yachts leave for the Sydney to Hobart race. After that, we went home, napped, and went out again to Freshie (Freshwater beach) for a swim in the evening. Just heaven.
Today I hit the sales with my cousins and I reckon I did pretty well. We started the day with a good feed of yum cha (dim sum) - hmmmm. The shopping was fun, despite the crowds - I love Review, their stuff just seems to fit me - I bought a checked skirt, green knit top, striped shirt and a jacket from there. Then we went to Myer where I bought a lovely grey sweater by Dejuba, and some great black trousers by Tokito. I wasn't too impressed by Kookai - the contents of the entire shop comes in two sizes: skinny, and extra skinny. I walked out of there feeling depressed that a "one size fits all" top was way too tiny. I'm not fat! Granted, I'm not skinny either, but I'm perfectly normal sized - why should I be made to feel like a blob because I'm not a rake thin 16 year old?!
So I've taken four days off (Christmas weekend plus the two public holidays) with no thought to the PhD and I felt guilty every minute of it! (Can't help it!)
Ah well, I'm currently making dinner for myself (Hubby has gone with his Dad to the Central Coast).
I hope you've all been taking care of yourselves over the Christmas break.
xx
