We saw the Urologist again today who is now referring us to a Radiation Oncologist.
Hubby needs a PET scan because there's an inflammed lymph node near his kidneys and we need to see if it's just a bit of inflammation or something to target in the radiation therpy he'll now need.
The cancer hasn't spread beyond the testicle (stage one) and is of the less aggressive seminoma type - which is good. However, he'll need some low dose radiotherapy to reduce the chance of it coming back.
We're also going to need to bank some of his sperm. Also low-dose RT has less of a chance of affective fertility (it usually returns to normal in a few months) we're not taking any chances there!
Anyway, it was news we were expecting, so it's okay.

Yeah, you're right, Jez, it's not really bad news at all. From what you'd said - and given the circumstances - it was about what might have been expected and/or hoped for, and at least he shouldn't have to go thru Chemo. That's very good. Again, stay stong, and know, as always, you're thought of and prayed for. God bless.
Good to hear its stage one. hope all goes well with treatment and this news is a weight off your mind so you can enjoy each others company over christmas.
xx best wishes
Hey Jezzy,
I'm so glad to hear it's stage one. That must be a huge relief. Wishing you all the best for the radiotherapy.
ginchy
I'm so relieved to learn that it was in early stages and that he's recovering (physically) from the surgery okay.
It has to be a huge relief that he can bypass Chemo. Good deal!
You're in my thoughts ...
Keep your chin up, Jezzy.
Oh, good! Stage one of the most curable form of cancer we have. That's GOT to be good news, even if he has to be poked, prodded, and drugged a bit as part of the recovery. I think banking his sperm is a great idea. I'm still sort of numb from the whole incident because it was SOOO sudden and then everything happened so fast! If I'm thinking that from blogland, I can only IMAGINE how wierdly numb you must be at times there in Australia. I mean, here's a lump, here's some tests, here's some surgery, here's some follow up...all in the course of just a few weeks! Wow! I'm so happy it looks like it's going as well as it could under the circumstances.
Oh, and btw, I loved your Nemo analogy in the other comment area. Exactly!
Stage One is good news, I'm so relieved for you both.

That's a relief. Hope you both are holding up ok.
Fingers crossed, Jezzy.
