Don't have to be perfect...

...not at all.

But that's the thing, when you love someone, and I mean, really love them, you don't love them despite all their flaws. You love all those crazy little things they do.

Their silly habits, their insecurities, their hang-ups, the way they avoid certain things, or do things a certain way, or struggle with other things. Everything they do and say, everything they don't do and don't say. All the little things that can drive you up the wall.

But it doesn't matter.

It's who they are - and it's so lovely and frustrating all at once.

I'm guessing you were talking about hubby, but when I read that I thought of more than just romantic love; I thought of how parents feel about their children. At any rate - it's all quite true about that thing that Jean Valjean says is all that matters. =o)

Yes, Jezzy! That's what I'm getting at. "so lovely and frustrating all at once." Yes. When you love somebody, you love all that makes them who they are. That includes those quirks, and sometimes you just feel such great love for them that when they display these quirks--things that might drive another human mad--they make you grin and shake your head and feel a surge of love. Then other times when you're grumpy, you might get cross over the quirk cropping up, but at the same time you're still going, damn, he's just so cute. Haha! There's no such thing as a perfect person. But there IS such a thing as a man who is perfect FOR me, and that'd be Alex...lovely and frustrating quirks and all :)

JPD - you know, I bet I'll feel this way even more towards my kids, when I have them!

Kira - yup - not perfect, but perfect for me. And it's so hard to stay angry with him - he's too cute!
