Stressed out!

Okay - just to add to my layer of background stress (which alreadyinvolves getting the PhD submitted and waiting on results from Hubby'stumour marker tests that he had last weekend which they did wrong and which required me ringing up the lab yesterday and having a go at someone who had no idea what I was talking about), we're buying a house.

Or attempting to do so anyway.

Gaaah! It's horrible. Not the house, obviously, but the feelings.

We're trying to stop the thing from going to auction so we need to be careful about what we offer. We're done a building inspection and our solicitor is happy with the contract -if all is well, they'll accept our offer without too much ado.

Getting a massive home loan is financially stressful. But we're also trying to keep our lovely apartment and we're now looking for tenants for it (anyone interested? lol). Oh, and the tenants in our other apartment have decided to not renew their contract - so we're looking for tenants for that property too. Plus, we're refinancing two of our loans.

Look I rarely talk about finance and money and investments on this blog, but it's all very, very, very stressful until it's sorted and done and all of that.

The blood vessels in my brain are hurting!

More about house-buying. I'm married to the type of person who says comments like "I like the feel of it" and "it feels just right" and"it's got a happy feel about it" when looking at property.

I am not that type of person.

He says to me "you look like you're not happy with the place". But I*am* happy with it, it's lovely, it's a sweet home on a huge block,it's got a great outlook from the backyard with beautiful views, it's got a nice pool, it's 20mins to the city and 20mins to the beaches and it's fine as is - no renovations needed. But I'm the type to also lookat the drawbacks too - and look at the facts.

I definitely find myself pulling back from personalising it at all until I can say for sure that it's mine.

I wonder how much that says about us in the way we deal with life? He launches in wholeheartedly while I maintain my distance until I'm absolutely sure.

I guess it's important to have that balance.

Anyways. Hate stress - why does everything always happen at once?

I think it's good to have an impulsive person like your hubby AND a careful person like you in a marriage. You balance each other out. I'm the impulsive one in my marriage, lol. =o)

Buying a new house is like getting married. You just want to be absolutely sure before you do it that you can put up with it for a long, long time! Good luck with the housing, and I hope the hubby's test comes back with good news.

I second what Kira said. House buying is horrible. The two times I've had to do it, it's sent me into a frenzy...it's not just the money, it's the "will we get it"? aspect of the transaction. So much wheeling and dealing.

Everything will work out for you the way it's supposed to. Good luck with your husband's marker tests.

I'll keep all the appropriates crossed for you that you get the house, and that the test results come back the right way.
