Wanted: PhD examiner

Feeling really, really impatient. Have finished thesis, both
supervisors happy with it, but only have two examiners.

Desperately in need of a third!

I've already had two people reject examining it. Do you know how
painful rejection is? I know I shouldn't take it personally but I do
feel they're rejecting me. Why don't they want me?!!! What's wrong
with me??!!!!!! lol

Both of my supervisors cannot think of another person to ask to
examine the thing. I know I should be happy because all I have to do
is print and bind it - in fact I can submit it now - but it won't be
sent off until all three examiner are confirmed so there's no real
point. I don't wanna print it just yet in case I need to change
anything.

Frustration, frustration!!

Fly me down. I'll whip up some credentials. The other committee members would never know. And I'll be sure to bring up some random point during your defense, just so that I say something...and I'd be sure to pass you.

This too shall pass! I think it's probably their schedules that is causing them to say no. You are so, so close... DR. Jezzy!!! =o)

How excellent!

I'm so chuffed for you.

Dissertation type things are just awful. Couldn't imagine spending the best part of three, maybe four years doing one!

Wow, they're turning down looking at it? Why? Is it that long, Jezzy? ;) Well, sooner or later somebody will crop up. At USC, we had to hunt up our own readers, but the professors just about never turned us down. I like the idea of getting readers from outside the uni who don't know the person at all, though. That means you really can get a more unbiased view on what needs to be done or not done.

Oh, that sucks. It can be hard to get people to examine a thesis, but I'm sure you'll find someone. Have you thought about trying someone from a related field, or even really laterally someone from the survey method or stats angle?

Hope this passes quickly :)

May you get what you need here, girl.

After all that work you would think this would be the easy part.

Great idea, Laura!

I know, JPD - so close! Everyone keeps asking me if I'm happy that I've finished writing - but I'm not feeling anything. Nothing. I don't think I will until I actually get the qualification.

Thanks Fudge - it's been long, long, long.

Kira - hmmm, it's 350 pages. You know, he actually asked how long it was before he rejected it. Oh - and I read his blog and I know he's really busy because he just had a baby - but seriously- I need another examiner! We're actually not supposed to know who the examiners are - but there's no way that happens.

Jodie - yeah - actually the two who rejected reading it were the only ones from the field. The two who accepted are from related fields.

Valerie - yup - it is the easy part actually - I need to stop complaining - I've finished the hard part!
