I'm feeling a lot less emo than I've felt lately - which is great.
I think the inner yayness is shining through.
Maybe it's the summery weather and looking forward to spending a good
deal of the next few months in our very own saltwater pool. Maybe it's
scent of the roses, jasmine, gardenias and hydrangeas in bloom in our
garden. Maybe it's all the Christmas parties and weekend BBQs coming
up (I love this time of year), but it's all good. Even the bad seems
managable right now.
The latest thing with Hubby and I is that we've registered ourselves
with a few market research companies to take part in focus groups in
the evenings.
So far, we've made $300 out of it, $100 per group (that's US$76 -
since the majority of my blog readers seem to be from the US).
It's pretty good because they take up about 2 hours each and they're
in the evenings and to be honest, we spend most our evenings bumming
around watching TV or looking at stuff on YouTube. It's easy as
anything to sit with a bunch of people and talk crap about what snack
foods we eat and stuff like that - it's not work at all, it's
socialising. And a bit of extra cash never goes astray...
Oh, Hubby's appointment yesterday with the oral surgeon went like this:
Hubby: The dentist thinks there may be something in my jaw from the X-ray.
Doctor: Ahh, I detect an English accent there. So which team do you support?
Hubby: It's Arsenal all the way.
Doctor: Well, it's easy to support a team that wins, I think the
bigger challenge is to stay true to the battling ones. I've gone for
Tottenham for years.
Hubby: Well that's it, I'm going. [Pretends to leave]. Tottenham? Why
are you going for a team like that?
Doctor: I lived there for a few years. Whereabouts are you from?
Hubby: Croydon.
Doctor: Yes, I know that area well.
Jezzy: Um, the Oncologist said he didn't think the thing on the X-ray
was related to his cancer.
Doctor: What? Nah, it's normal.
And then Hubby and the surgeon continued to talk about England. And
soccer. And that was it.
Tis lovely to go to the doctor and not have bad news.
And instead have meaningless conversation about England.
And soccer.
Yay.

Excuse me my dear! Soccer is not "meaningless"! As a staunch "Man U" fan for over fifteen years we are talking almost "sacred"!!
All funnies aside, I'm glad hubby is ok, (gives him more time to really realize Man U is THE team.)
I've known folks whose lot in life is so seemingly overburdened with "situations". You are a lovely soul who is totally grounded in your love and faith in this world,...never ever lose that!
Fantastic news Jezzy! Glad to hear it was nothing...always what you want to hear in this case.
I want to join focus groups...but they only ever want foreigners for medical research here...not focus groups.
WAHOO, nice to have a non-stressful talk with a doctor!
Apparently it's Chelsea in this house, well, it is for mr ginchy. Me, I don't care. If it has to be sport (and only under sufference mind), it's rugby union all the way.
WHEW!!!!! And kudos to your hubby for being so cool about that convo. Men, lol - sports prevail over everything for them.
Through step-heredity, I (apparently) am a supporter of West Ham. I don't know exactly if that's a good thing or not. By the same rule of inheritance, I also support the South Sydney Rabbitohs (ARL, care of my father), and Colo Colo (Chilean soccer, via my mother). Mind you, these are all mere technicalities; much like the fact that I was baptised Roman Catholic technically means I support Jesus. In reality, though... I care little - or less - or minus! - for either sport, or religion.
Token non-sequitur: I would kill for some Kettle Chips right now.
Anyhoo, glad to hear Mr Jezzy's doing well. Think I said that earlier, but, whatever. :o)
Whew! So he looked at the x-rays and knew he was from England. I can't say if that's good news or bad news. Kidding. It's good news all the way. I almost had a heart attack when I read he had "something" on his x ray.
