Stardust

We saw Stardust on the weekend.

I loved it! (And so did my husband and it rare for both of us to like
a film! He thinks my taste in books and movies is too kooky and
inaccessible, while I really don't like his taste in the very male
bang-bang-you're-dead genre.)

It'll please any Neil Gaiman fan and any Princess Bride fan – it was
just lovely, fun and glorious. It was one of those movies that left me
with a grinning sigh - which I still feel now thinking about it.

Plus, I now have a huge crush on the guy who played Tristan (even
though he was born in 1982 – eeek!) and Hubby has a crush on the woman
who played Una (which is good – I do note that he tends to find smart,
sultry 30-something women most appealing these days rather than those
younger, silly little blond, thin things. Tis a good sign.)

The film stands on its own as just as good as the novel (with some of
the violence and all of the sex taken out. It doesn't need it. The
plot has been simplified very well, the pace is perfect and it's
visually beautiful.)

So I saw a gorgeous fairytale and I had a lovely Saturday night date
with my husband.

Haven't seen it but I've heard it's good. Will have to check it out if even the blokes are diggin it!

Steph, stop being a "pisser", even us "guys" can enjoy a good flick, but I must admit getting past the "macho" phase into the "yeah, I enjoyed it" is a quantum leap in the world of "growing up". (Still love your "pithy" comments and your blog!
Jez,
I guess, on your reccomendation, I'll propose we check it out with the wife. (I just wish they'd leave enough of a "trailer" at the end of the movie that us "wimps" had time to wipe our eyes, re-assemble our minds, and leave as machissimo as we came in!)

Sounds like a great date movie. Maybe I can talk hubby into seeing it. =o)

I saw it this weekend. I agree with you completely Jezzy, even including the bit about the crush on Charlie Cox, particularly post makeover. I think I need to go find the graphic novel now as I really didn't get into the book.
