Idols live

So I saw the four remaining Idol contestants at the Sydney Motor Show on Saturday.

(I had free tickets, okay? I'm neither a car enthusiast, nor would I pay that much to watch those guys perform two songs!)

And they were really good.

Damien seemed kinda shy and his mic wasn't working at first, so Chris distracted the audience - he's a funny guy and very comfortable on stage. Jessica is very, very sweet, just as you'd expect. And the young girls were screaming their little hearts out over Dean. (He is just as gorgeous as you'd imagine).

Anyway, since Bobby left, I'm not sure who to go for. I kinda like the older guys - Chris and Damien. Jessica has a great voice but do we need another diva-sounding chick? Dean certainly has the whole package in terms of looks and screaming fans - and he's not half bad on guitar - but in terms of actual vocal and performance talent, he's the weakest link.

Anyway, I'm relaxing here - bliss!

I have Monday and Tuesday off work - I haven't taken much annual leave this year and I really should. I planned on taking a holiday when I finished the PhD but it never panned out that way. So here I have four days off in a row (including the weekend) and it feels very, very nice.

Oh - my sister-in-law called to say she was pregnant, and my Hubby is angry with me because I said "So that's why she called up last week to say she got engaged to her boyfriend!" instead of saying something like "Yay, I am so excited for them. W00t."

Seriously, I was just joking around! It's funny, isn't it? Can't people laugh at these things?

4 days off! Luxury!

I did the Idol thing the once ( Casey Donovan season ), and I got right into it, but I guess I'm sorta over it now.

And you're right... we certainly don't need another diva!

general_boy...Do you mean you were on Idol? Or got really into watching it?? When I am in Australia I watch the first 2-3 weeks of Idol with my Dad and laugh about the really crap people and decide who is really good. But once everyone on has some talent it gets a little dull...

Sorry, Jezzy, 4 days off sounds great. I hope you are using them wisely!!

I am pretty sure if someone says they got engaged and then announce they are pregnant most people have a similar reaction to you...kind of like " OHHHH I get it now" I can laugh at those things, but I suppose if it was my family it is different....protective and all that.

Isn't that the normal response? No? I suppose I must just come from a very, very cynical background (who'da thunk it?), but that's probably the automatic reaction in my family.
