Okay - Blogger sites are now blocked from my workplace.
After getting all pissed off about it (yet another blow to my autonomy
as an employee - I do not respond well to being told what I can and
what I can't do!) a very clever and helpful dear friend showed me how
to read blogs through Google Reader. It's very good. I'd used
Bloglines before, but that's blocked here too - not much help. Google
Reader is a great way to let me know when there's new posts for the
blogs which I subscribe to and it shouldn't get blocked as we have to
have access to Google!
So I can still post to my blog and read your comments (via Gmail) and
I can now read your blogs (via Google Reader), but I can't post
comments on your blogs.
Rest assured, I still read all my links daily. I can't miss what's
going on in your lives - it's like a virtual soap, except that you
grow to really like and care for all the people you read.
So, if I have your email address, I hope you don't mind occasional
comments to your posts via email from me. I'm just letting you know
I'm still here, and still reading. And if you wanna share your email
addy with me or contact me for whatever reason, you can reach me at
jezzygirl [at] gmail.com
Thanks for listening.

While I can understand the decision from an employer's viewpoint, I also know that there are several blogs (some of them hosted on blogger) that I read daily for business purposes.
The Google Reader is a good solution. I use bloglines, too, and love it.
I just avoid posting or viewing anything blog related at work... I'm fairly paranoid as I know the level to which it might be monitored.
One outing is enough in a blog lifetime!
I've always hated the attitudes of the self-righteous doofs who think they need to stamo out any and all external connectivity.
Trust, it seems, is a vanishing commodity in the corporate world. As long as you're getting your job done and aren't surfing porn sites, they shouldn't really care WHAT you do online.
Sigh...we're surrounded by idiots.
Oops, almost forgot: my e-mail address is...

Your voice is always welcome, no matter how it arrives.
Apparently, Carmi has met some of my co-workers. I'm lucky in that my boss doesn't care what I do as long as work gets done. He's a great; I'm convinced he's too normal to be an academic.
Fight the power!
